Organisation History
Carrickfergus Community Forum, formed in 1997, acts as an umbrella organisation for the community and voluntary sector in Carrickfergus.
It has a key function in developing and strengthening the community infrastructure within the Borough and currently has ninety eight groups representing many aspects of the community. The Forum is overseen by an elected Management Committee and staffed by a full-time Coordinator, full-time Community Development Officer, two part-time Community Outreach Officers, a part-time General Administrator and a part-time Finance Administrator.
Carrickfergus Community Forum aims to build a vibrant, strong, confident, inclusive and prosperous community sector by;
Creating a resource base and a central focus for community and voluntary groups.
Developing the community's ability to contribute to policy and decision making (with information, research and skills).
Building partnerships and networks within the sector and other agencies and sectors.
Identifying local needs and seeking community development responses to them.
Attracting funding and other resources to enable services, projects and programmes to be delivered within the Borough.
